Admiral Yacht Insurance help make bluewater dreams come true

The Admiral Yacht Insurance team were pleased to support the World Cruising Club’s second annual Bluewater Open Boat Weekend hosted at Berthon Marina in Lymington on 16-17 May 2015.

The two-day event provided the ideal opportunity for aspiring bluewater cruisers to climb aboard a variety of ocean sailing boats, mingle with experienced cruisers and get expert advice to help set sail with the right boat, training and equipment.  Designed to make visitors think about all aspects of living the bluewater dream, the event combined a boatshow, a seminar and a sailor rendezvous all in one.

The inspirational talks covered a range of topics including the ‘what, where, when and how’ of choosing sailing rallies and routes, learning bluewater cruising techniques, choosing and refitting a boat for bluewater cruising and advice on sails and rigging.

A wide range of bluewater boats were open for viewing, all of which were hosted by experienced offshore sailors who had sailed transatlantic, or further afield, and were happy to share their experiences with prospective bluewater cruisers.    A selection of boats from the Berthon Brokerage Collection were also open for inspection.

Along with Admiral Yacht Insurance, representatives from leading marine companies including Hamble School of Yachting, Professional Yacht Deliveries, Seldon, Elvstrom Sails, Fischer-Panda, Watt & Sea and Mob Mat were on hand to advise on equipping boats and crew for offshore adventures.

Admiral’s MD, Robert Holbrook, took part on a briefing panel and helped to provide advice on crossing the Pacific from his own experience in 2008.

As a strong supporter of World Cruising Club for many years, Admiral has developed yacht insurance schemes exclusively for ARC rally participants and were delighted to meet participants and answer any questions on Yacht Insurance cover suitable for their planned trip, whether it be bluewater cruising, or something closer to home.
