Admiral Yacht Insurance settles for beached Swan

Admiral Boat Insurance has settled a yacht insurance claim for the owner of a 1977 Swan 431 Susquehanna which broke adrift from her usual swinging mooring on the west coast of Scotland in the high winds of Hurricane Katia in September. The sailing yacht was beached at Loch Craighish. A surveyor, located only half an hour away was sent to the scene on the same day but due to a very high tide it was difficult to assess the damage.

However, he was back early the next day and quickly assessed that the sailing yacht had been holed and flooded. After the Yacht Insurance Claim had been settled as a total loss the owner Hugh Spencer, of Dunbartonshire expressed his thanks, saying “I want to thank everyone at Admiral Yacht Insurance, in particular Ken Murfitt, for the sympathetic and professional manner in which our yacht insurance claim has been conducted. The whole affair was somewhat complicated, and followed shortly after we had just completed a circumnavigation, so we were especially pleased with the straightforward way that Admiral Yacht Insurance handled everything. We’ve been insured with Admiral Boat Insurance for seven years and this was the first claim that we have had, so it was very reassuring.”
